Target Crops:
Maize (Corn)
About the Problem:
Parthenium hysterophorus is a highly competitive invasive broad-leaved weed. It grows rapidly and produces large quantities of seed, allowing it to spread in and around agricultural fields. Infestation can compete with maize and other crops for essential resources.
Season of Occurrence:
Can occur throughout much of the year under favourable conditions, with major emergence and rapid growth generally occurring during and after the monsoon/rainy season.
